Pharmacy First — Key Information

Only patients in England are eligible for the Pharmacy First service. The service is accessible for all, where you can receive support, advice and if necessary, medication for common conditions.
If you are exempt from paying for prescriptions, you should show your pharmacist evidence of this when you speak to them. They will need it if they recommend any medicines to treat your symptoms.
Our pharmacist can provide NHS treatments for: Earache or Ear Infection (Otitis Media), Impetigo (skin rash), Infected insect bites, Shingles, Sinus Infection (Sinusitis), Sore throat, and Urinary tract infections in women (UTI). We provide the same treatments you would get from a GP.
If it turns out you need treatment from a GP, your pharmacist can also refer you to them. Our pharmacists are trained to assess when a referral is needed and will ensure you get the right care.
No appointment is necessary. You can walk into St Mawes Pharmacy during dispensary hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3:30pm) and have a private consultation with our pharmacist. You can also phone ahead on 01326 270296.
